WOMEN UNDER AUTHORITY
The fact is, for all Christians, male or female, we are all under the authority of God through Christ. In His authority. God determined that the woman would be under the authority of the man. From the very beginning this is so.
It is written in Genesis 3.16, "To the woman He said, 'I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, and in pain you will bring forth children; your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.'" MEV.
We see in Genesis 3 that man's authority over the woman was a consequence of sin, in a fallen world. Men and women are still sinners in a fallen world. And nowhere does Scripture change man's authority over the woman.
Women are under the authority of men in marriage.
It is written in Ephesians 5.22-24, "Wives, be submissive to your own husbands as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head and Savior of the church, which is His body. 24 But as the church submits to Christ, so also let the wives be to their own husbands in everything." MEV.
Women are under authority in the church.
It is written in 1st Corinthians 14.34, "Let your women remain silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak. They are commanded to be under obedience, as the law also says." MEV.
It is written in 1st Timothy 2.11-14, "Let a woman learn in silence with all obedience. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to usurp authority over a man, but to be silent. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, being deceived, fell into sin."
So, we see here that women are under man's authority in the church, and it's because of what happened in the beginning.
It is a Biblical principle that women are under the authority of men. Question, does this principle extend beyond the church? Well, Adam and Eve were not in the church. They were sinners in a fallen world. Are men and women today sinners in a fallen world? Without Christ they are. So, this principle goes beyond the church. Which leads me to believe it is a principle of God that women are not to seek positions of authority in politics, or in the military. That includes voting. Voting is exercising your authority to select who to be in Government.
The argument can be made that we can't expect women of the world to obey God. This is true. But, women of the church certainly should be obedient to God. Faithful women in the church do not seek any position of authority.
